Bridal Makeup
If you're a maid of honor, bridesmaid, attendant or mother of a bride to be, you can be of invaluable help to the bride on her wedding day by having a makeup vanity table prepared with all the items that she'll need to get ready. Here's what you'll need to do:
1. prepare a table, desk or vanity (if you don't have an actual makeup vanity table don't panic) with a mirror large enough that when the bride is seated she can see her entire face, veil, headpiece, shoulders and the upper part of her bodice, at least. It's really nice if you have another full-length mirror somewhere nearby, or at least in the same room as where she's to going to get ready. You can create a vanity easy enough with a large mirror, a small stool and a desk that you can cover with a linen table cloth or some fluid gauze fabric.
2. make sure the area you choose to set up the table is well lit, not with fluorescent lighting or something that's too stark, but as natural as possible. One important thing is that if the lighting is bad, the bride, under stress, may see herself not as beautiful as she actually is... be careful about lighting.
3. have all the makeup laid out, what she usually wears as well as an assortment of foundations, translucent powders and concealers, as well as a new tube of waterproof mascara in HER color (even if she usually uses none waterproof... have her wear waterproof on her wedding day), two or three soft eyeliner pencil,

  1. an eyebrow brush, a set of makeup brushes, some cotton swabs, cotton pads, lots of tissue, makeup remover for correcting mistakes, moisturizer, lotion, her perfume, her jewelry laid out on a tray, her headpiece and veil on a rack nearby, lots of hair pins and the hair jewelry she has chosen, and also have a misting bottle with water or rose-water to freshen her skin. Have a wastepaper basket near the makeup vanity table for tossing used tissues and cotton swabs, and for emergency use, have a series of stick pins, safety pins, rubber bands and ties... just have them in a drawer in the vanity or desk.
Helping With Essentials For Bridal Purses
The bride will be nervous on her wedding day even if she says she's not and looks totally pulled together. Even if she's not nervous to the point of being absent minded she will forget some things, it's natural with all the excitement. Help her pack her purse, and help the other attendants pack their bags too, so that between everyone, there should be enough handkerchiefs, tissue, lipstick, face powder, eyeliner, hand lotion, perfume and even a small of notepad and a little silver or gold pen. Someone in the bridal party should also be sure to have in their handbag, clutch or purse, some hairpins, safety pins, stick pins for boutonnieres that will fall off, and a small emergency sewing kit with white and bridal party color thread.
