Does Asian mean flat and plain? How can my shadow application bring out definition for my Asian eyes? Can I use the eye makeup directions in magazines? What are eye shapes and how do they affect my application techniques? Let's find out!
Eye shapes fall into many variations: Asian, Standard, Wide Set, Close Set, Hooded, and Deep Set. Each one takes a different eye shadow application. The makeup technique you use will mean the difference between a fantastic and flat look. Many women already know their eye shape. Do you?
The Asian eye is known for a lack of a defined eye lid and skin that comes directly from the brow to the lashes without a curve. That sounds plain; but don't despair. Recognize that your shadow technique will be unique to you. No, you won't be able to use the common 'How-To' techniques used in the beauty magazines. Those featured are usually only for the Standard Eye Look.
What to do? Choose a light, medium, and dark shadow. Here are your Asian Makeup, Directions:
• Light shade- Use small amount under eye brow and along the upper lash line.
• Medium eye color- Cover the entire area that isn't already covered with the light color.
• Accent shadow color- Apply from mid eye toward the outer edge of the eye and up, not quite meeting the medium shade. Blend up and out, opening the eye. An Asian technique must- Apply accent color also under lower lashes.

If you have prominent eyes, then you will want to take special care when applying your eye makeup. If you are new to applying makeup and are confused as to how to apply eye makeup because things you read are contrary to what you should do, here are some great tips to follow.
The standard way to apply eye makeup is to have the highlighted (lightest) shade on your eyelid and browbone, the midtone (darker shade) in the crease, and the accent (darkest color) on the outer portion of your eye.
However, if your eyes are prominent, you must not apply your makeup this way. Before we get into that, how do you determine if you have prominent eyes?

Many women these days are learning how to apply mineral eye makeup as they have come to realize the benefits of this over traditional foundations and powders. Mineral makeup does not contain chemicals which can be found in other cosmetics and thus is natural and causes no irritation to sensitive skin. But you need to learn how to apply mineral eye makeup to get a natural and flawless look.
The first step before applying any sort of mineral makeup is to moisturize your skin. Since this makeup comes in powder form, it is necessary to apply lotion to get a smooth and even finish.
If your skin is too dry, then it will look artificial and powdered up and if too oily, will tend to melt away the powder. Wait for almost ten minutes after applying the moisturizing cream and then apply the mineral powder.

Once you reach a certain age it is important that you edit your makeup down to a minimalistic color pallet because nothing ages you more then badly applied makeup. Thick eyeliner, bold lipsticks, clumpy mascara and layered shimmery eye shadow are all applications that can look really aging and need to be avoided on mature skin. The wrong makeup application especially around the eyes, will accentuate creepy eyelids and fine lines and wrinkles. For a more sophisticated look use colors that are closer to your skin tone that have been artfully blended in so they look subtle and classy:
Base: As we age our skin becomes drier and visible signs of aging appear such as fine lines, broken capillaries and dark shadows. For this reason choosing the right foundation base is critical in helping to achieve that youthful dewy finish. Start by using a hydrating moisturizer to make your skin look fresher and follow with a high pigment, light textured liquid foundation, that will work to cover blemishes and appear light and luminous on the skin.

If you're brown-eyed and female, you have every right to be smug. Eye makeup for brown eyes is varied and easy. As a matter of fact, the brown-eyed woman is lucky because she can do lots of speaking and expressing with her limpid stare. Most importantly, she has an arsenal of eye shadows that she can choose from. She can wear any hue and look gorgeous. She can do greens and not look like a plant. She can use bronzes and not look like a coin. She can use dark hues and not look like a cave bat.
The Flecks Say It All
Brown is complex and mesmerizing. Brown eyes are seldom solid in color because they have flecks in them. These flecks should be your barometer in gauging which hue to chose for your eye makeup. The best eye makeup for brown eyes is the one that complements the color of your flecks. What flecks do your eyes have? If your brown eyes have yellow flecks, go for plum or purple eyeshadow. If, on the other hand, your eyes have reddish flecks, use green hues. Green will enhance the red tones in your eyes and at the same time, give them depth.
Liner Love
The same rule in complementing your eye color applies to eyeliner. Your eyeliner color should complement your brown eyes.

Smokey eye makeup is a trend that comes and goes with other fashion trends. It is used primarily for night time use. This type of make up has been around for centuries. Women throughout history have made their eyes up to stand out. Cleopatra is depicted in wall paintings to have had this type of make up on. Sophia Loren probably is one of the most famous modern day actresses that displayed it on a regular basis. Ms. Loren painted her eye lids with a it based in black. This trend was received well in the late nineteen fifties through the late nineteen sixties. The trend has come and gone through out time but always returns.
Smokey eye makeup is typically grays, browns and charcoal coloring. These colors are matte and dark. There are some dark blues that can be considered smokey as well. The primary colors of the smokey make up look are fueled by the darker colors of the color palette.

The Right Makeup for Brides with Dark Complexions and Dark Eyes...
By the time your wedding day arrives you probably have a pretty good idea of what colors look good on you when it comes to eye shadow and lipstick. But just in case you are one of those girls who don't bother with much more than mascara and lip gloss on a daily basis but want to step it up a notch for your wedding, here are a few tips on how to be a more polished and glamorous you-not Chuckles that clown in drag.
  1. Foundation is meant to even out the color and tone of your skin-not paint on a new one. If your skin is very dark, you might need to select a shade lighter than your actual skin. Use a light, oil-free product that glides on effortlessly. And remember that less is more. A little goes a long way.

Making your eyes come alive is a real art, and as any good artist you will also have to work wonders with your brush and color by carefully blending them into creating some of the most gorgeous looking eyes. Deep-set eyes are breathtaking, because you can experiment with a lot of techniques.
Make-up can highlight your beauty only if it is applied carefully, and each stroke of your brush is a part of the final masterpiece. Applying makeup is a simple task, provided that you take your steps carefully and tactically. Here are some few steps on how to apply eye makeup in the simplest way.
1. Concealer: the most important thing is to prepare your eyes with a concealer so that you can cover up all the dark circles and discolorations under your eye. While applying your concealer, start with the inner corner where the skin is the darkest, and then slowly stroke your brush towards the outer edge. Never rub the concealer, but always pat it with your finger.
2. Eye base: applying an eye base to the lid of your eyes can keep your eyeshadow for hours. This is like a primer for your eyes and without it your eyeshadow will become greasy at the end of the day.
3. Eyeliner: you could use dark eyeshadows as a replacement for eyeliner. Take a brush and slightly wet it at the tip and dip it in a dark eyeshadow.

Some say the eyes are the window to your soul but in the fashion world, the eyes are the most striking features on the face and if you are applying make up, 50% of your make up should be focused on your eyes. In this make up lesson, we are going to learn how to apply eye make up flawlessly.
First of all you need a good concealer to hide your dark circles and wrinkles around your eyes. Start at the inner corner where skin tends to be darkest, then under the pupil and the third on the outer edge. I would recommended using a professional brush set instead of your fingers to pad the concealer because your fingers are dirty and not hygienic especially if you plan to do make up for others.
The secret of having eye make up that stays forever is using eye base. Always apply eye base to keep your eye shadow in place. On choosing the colors,

Asian eye makeup differs from region to region. The Chinese, Japanese and Thai people have creaseless eyelids. On the other hand, the Middle Eastern and Indian eyes have creased eyelids.
The crease of the eye is enhanced to give definition to the eyes. Asian eyes can carry off darker and vibrant shades due to the darker skin tones. Otherwise the technique of applying the makeup is the same as used in Caucasian eyes.
Makeup normally applied begins by touching the eyes with creams that fill wrinkles and remove puffiness, followed by the translucent foundation to help bring out the color of the eye shadow. You'll start the makeup with a darker eye shade brushed into the outer edge while the inner edge will take a lighter shade. The eyelash is emphasized with a streak of the darker eyeshadow along its edge.
Eyebrows enhance the eyes, therefore it is best to shape, brush and fix them with the help of a gel. Then you can apply mascara which also adds volume to the lashes. Sequins, glitter; shimmery eye shadows make the Asian eyes mesmerizing.
The creaseless eyes can be done up with a few Asian eye makeup tricks. A gray or brown eye shadow a few shades darker than the skin tone can be applied to create a false crease. The darker shades of eye shade and line are applied along the eye lash and then the rest of the eye is highlighted with a lighter shade.
Beauty... when you look into a woman's eyes and see what is in her heart.
Brown eyes come in many different shades so let's look at a kaleidoscope of colors to help us to enhance eye color. Colors opposite each other will be complementary so, will work to brighten each other up. For example: Red and green, orange and blue, purple and yellow. Depending on the shade of brown your eyes are will determine the shades of eye shadow you may use to brighten the brown which, may give you the effect of lightening that you are after, especially if you use colors that shimmer. If your eyes have a yellow tinge, try using an eye shadow with a purple tone.
The next thing you need to consider is the one rule of makeup that will always guide you: Light colors bring out, make larger and highlight.

Green eyes are really fun to work with. They have such a wide color range from turquoise to forest green and on. These tips are designed for the majority of green eyes but there are exceptions to every rule.
In general, start with these tips and then start experimenting. You'll be surprised what looks good.
Choosing An Eyeshadow
These colors are some of the most popular. Different browns, especially chocolate tones, will make eyes pop. Brown and dark green with copper or gold highlights are also a great choice. Dark purple and plum are ideal for green eyes. Coppers and golds will make a really glamorous evening look. Apricot and taupe are good choices for highlighters.

Romance is in the air. So what are you wearing for your date?
A sexy dress with a plunging neckline?
Jeans and a pretty top?
A feminine dress that his mom might approve?
How about your makeup? You could look more stunning than ever with the right makeup. Now what would be appropriate for the date?
What does he like?
If naturally pretty types appeal to him, goth makeup would turn him off. Natural looking makeup would be your best bet.
If he likes girls that are sweet and soft, dragon lady makeup might scare him off. Something soft and pretty would work.
If he prefers dangerous women, sultry lips or smokey eyes for that vamp look would probably work.
In any case, you could wear your regular makeup, or you could try something different.
The eye makeup is the toughest to do, so this article would focus on your eyes.
For a romantic date, go for the radiant, pretty look, rather than ice lady or goth, unless, he is a goth boy or someone who prefers ice to warmth.
1. Pick a main eye shadow color that flatter you.
If you have warm skin tones, go for corals, salmons, peaches and browns as the main eye shadow color. Coral eye shadow over the entire eyelid, balanced with a smokey charcoal or dark brown in the crease of the lid and a shimmery beige for highlights.

With just a little practice and a good assessment for your eyes and what they need to promote the best you, you can develop confidence of your allure. See the difference you can make with color and shading.
  • To Enhance Small Eyes: Use only light shades of eye shadow from lashes to crease, then blend darker shade up and out toward tip of eyebrow. Apply Highlighter at the outer corners. Mascara on upper lashes only. Eyeliner on upper lids must be very thin. Underline from center of pupil to corners.

You're getting ready for a big date. You have the perfect dress on and shoes and handbag to match. You dab on some expensive perfume and check your makeup. Almost perfect, you think to yourself. If only you could highlight your eyes more so they don't look as small...but what can you possibly do? Oh no, at the last minute too...You examine all the small eyes makeup you have and begin coming up with an idea...
What you need to do is remember all the small eyes makeup tips that you have heard or read in beauty magazines. Some thing will eventually come to you. And if it doesn't, then don't fret! You can improvise. All you need is a base, two primary colors, eyeliner and mascara. The base should be skin color. Any liquid or powder base foundation will do. The last thing you need is to be worry about using branded makeup!
After applying a little skin color foundation to your eyelids, pick your small eyes makeup eye shadow colors. At this point it is better to choose colors that match your wardrobe. However, if your wardrobe consists of bright colors such as yellow, pink or orange, then your best bet would be to pick eye shadow colors that match with everything.

1st Step: The Loose Powder
Start by applying some loose powder all over the lid to allow proper operation of your makeup.
Tips: Remember to put some makeup on the eyelid to neutralize the color of it.
2nd Step: The Eye Pencil
I recommend starting with the eye pencil before eye shadow since it has the texture "creamy" while makeup is dry. The application will be easier and will set the makeup pencil (good makeup). Trace the outline of the eye at the edge of the lashes. It just emphasizes the inner edge of the lashes. We start from the outer corner: 2/3 then melt on the upper eyelid, and 1/2 then melt at the lower eyelid. Blend a little pencil (especially under the lower eyelid to be less makeup).

Eye makeup has set its own trend when talking about looking good. Most women find it confusing and some may even end up using disastrous colors and techniques. Most of the time, women go to salons to have their full makeup done because they can't do it for themselves. This is without saying that most women want their eyes to truly pop out and look sexy.
There isn't any specific color and technique that will work best on every woman. Although most women think that this is true, if you'll go to a salon, the makeup artist can use just about anything and you'll still have beautiful made-up eyes as a result.
With that said, here are some tips for you to follow on your own at home:
1. Using foundation as base
Foundation acts as base and it also holds the eye makeup the whole day. It is advisable to use powdered foundation in order to set the eye makeup on your eyelids. Use a lighter toned foundation for the base and to set the eye makeup, use pressed powder.
2. Apply eyeliner on the eyelids
It is best to use liquid eyeliner for this purpose. Make sure to hold the eyeliner brush parallel to your eyes instead of holding it like a pen. Liquid eyeliners usually have brush tips instead of felt tips which make it better to apply and the dried eyeliner is smudge-proof.

With so many exciting cosmetic products now being developed and sold, women can achieve literally any look wanted. Today, companies that sell cosmetics realize the high demand by consumers for more innovative solutions. As a result, new and better products have been created. Then, thanks to the Internet, women have also been provided with online videos, photographs, and tutorials that relate to the application of different types of makeup. Interestingly, of all searches performed on makeup, application for a smokey eye makeup tutorial is at the top of the list.
Hollywood celebrities introduced this look to the rest of the world many years ago. Since that time, several variations for this type of application have been seen. For instance, some women prefer heavy, smoky eyes while other women prefer a more subtle look. Of course, dark smoky eyes are dramatic, which is why women use this application when going to certain evening events such as the theater, opera, or some other type of Fine or Performing Arts' event. On the other hand, other women like a toned down version of smokey eyes, again for a night on the town.
Because several different techniques are used to create perfect smoky eyes, having the ability to look at different styles and from various makeup artists is a huge advantage so you get the look perfect.

These days eyeglasses are hip and trendy and are readily available in a variety of styles, materials, shapes and colours. That means that they can be chosen to accessorise an outfit allowing you to look cute and intelligent at the same time. But some of us bespectacled girls have always had a hard time applying eye makeup. Most of us are afraid to put on mascara for fear that it might stick to the lenses. Well - worry not because such obstacles and apprehensions will become a thing of the past once you learn how to apply eye makeup while wearing glasses.
As a rule, once you have slipped on glasses you can instantly notice your eyes becoming invisible behind the specs. In order to ensure you always look your gorgeous best in eyeglasses tweak your makeup accordingly.
Let's start with the base. It's always best to select neutral and simple tones when applying foundation. The trick is to blend and then blend some more, creating a flawless canvas to work on. Mineral or even compressed powders work well for eyeglass wearers as liquid and cream foundations tend to build up under the nose.
You should see to it that you apply eye cream around your eyes to hydrate your skin. Eyeglasses tend to magnify the eye area, leaving the skin around the eyes dry and prone to developing wrinkles. In addition, using eye cream will make your eye makeup easier to apply and prevent it from creasing.

Eye shapes can be: Deep Set, Wide Set, Close Set, Asian, Hooded, Standard and Prominent. Each one takes a different eye shadow application. The makeup technique you use will mean eyes that turn heads, because they seem to 'POP' with color. Other eye looks will appear dull and detract from your otherwise beautiful face. Many women know their eye shape already. Do you know yours?
The Hooded Eye is known for the upper flap of skin near the brow bone. That flap partially covers the eye ball itself, giving what some call 'puppy-dog eyes.' That sounds awful; but don't worry. Some women are born with this tendency and others lose the muscle control as they age. Since they are thought to look sleepy, they are sometimes called Bedroom Eyes. That sounds a little better!
Recognize that your eye shadow technique will make a definite improvement. By following the make up tips for just the Hooded Eye, you'll see a brightening of your face. It will open and appear more alert. Usually the beauty magazines will feature the Standard Eye only. Standard Eye makeup ideas won't work for you.

Eye makeup may be tricky, but with some practice, you can create the look you want for any occasion. From bedroom eyes, smokey eye makeup to the sweet and pretty look. Let you imagination go wild as you play up your eyes.
These practical tips help you get started
1. Keep you eye liner pencils in the fridge. Kohl can get soft and smudgy in the sun. Refrigerate the pencils before you sharpen then. As the kohl hardens, it would be easier to sharpen and to work with right out of the fridge.
2. Use a white eye pencil to line the insides of your lower lash line. The white would make your eyes brighter. Be careful you don't hurt your eyes though.
3. Depuff your eyes before you use eye makeup. Lie down with your eyes shut an a slice of cucumber over each eye.
4. Use a concealer to hide the dark circles, even if you want to go for smoky eye makeup.
5. For dramatic eyes, there is no need to go for a rainbow of colors. You could do it subtly with an electric blue eyeliner on nude eye shadows, or play up your eyes with a single bright color like violet, or even orange, but offset it with neutrals like browns, grays and blacks.
6. For cats eyes, try a liquid eye liner on the upper lash line. Start with a thin line from the inner corner, but thicken the line dramatically from the center of the eye outwards and wing out. Draw the line thick and upwards at the outer corner of each eye.
7. For day to night makeup, start off with browns and neutral eyeshadow. Okay, pink and peach would do fine too as long as the color isn't too shocking. For night, add on a vivid color from lash to crease. And play up the eyes with a strong eyeliner.
8. Use metallic eyeshadow for glamour. A light touch of shimmer over the center of the eyelid and on the brow bone would suffice for day. For night, you could go for gilded eyelids, painting the entire eyelid gold or silver or a strong metallic for glamour.
9. Groom your eyebrows. There is no need to pluck them to a fine line. You could simply comb them upwards and trim them with a tiny pair of scissors if they are unruly.
10. Comb your lashes after applying mascara. Keep a clean, dry masacara wand to separate your lashes after each application of mascara. Use a mascara that builds length and fullness without going brittle or flaking or clumping. Lancome Hypnose mascara [http://www.cosmetics-online.net/lancome-hypnose-mascara.htm] is a pretty good mascara which builds length easily and stays soft.

Eyeshadow can enhance beautiful eyes, making quite ordinary eyes look really glamorous. There are a number of types of eye shadows to choose from and preference will be influenced by the overall effect and wearability. Powder is by far the most popular choice. It's easy to blend with other shadows so you can achieve really great depth and color and they have great staying power. Eye creams are easy to apply and you don't have to pay so much attention to detail when applying them, favored by many because of ease of application. Gloss is also easy to apply but adds shine rather then depth of color, so may require several coats.
Do your eye makeup application before you prepare your base. This way any mistakes can easily be rectified and any spillage on the cheeks can be dusted away with out smudging your foundation. Another eye makeup trick that makeup artists use, is to apply a thick layer of loose powder under the eyes and onto the upper cheekbone to catch any excess shadows, dusting any excess away with a powder brush
Eyes That Dream !!!
Many women feel that looking for the right eye makeup can really be difficult. Since there are numerous varied products required, it is sure to be much more of an issue than applying other makeup such as lipstick. Here are a few eye makeup tips to make this difficult routine relatively simple.
Five Great Ways on The Application of Eye Make up
1- Start with a product called an eye shadow primer. Now when you put on any make up on your eyes on top of it the primer will help any eye makeup to stay looking good much longer. The primer will also be a big influence in the creation of a finish that is smooth and crease-free.
2- If what you want is a look that is unaffected and natural, apply eye make up that will match your green eyes without trying to compete with them. Leave the heavier makeup only when the occasion demands it.
3- For those whose eyes are small there is a way to look bigger than they really are by the simple application of eye makeup that is of a lighter color cleverly just under each eyebrow and apply the color that is darkest on the outside third of your lid. Use an in-between color for the remaining of the eyes. Make sure the makeup is not blotchy.
4- Eye liner is easily available in a variety of forms but the most easily available form is one that resembles a pencil. This is amazingly simple to use. Any eye beautifying product does not have to necessarily be dark colored to create a look that is dramatic.

Polish Eyes
The traditional smokey eye makeup colours are, of course, black or grey. You are however not limited to these colour choices, you can also use less intense colours such as: violet, chocolate, coffee, dark pink, copper, dark green, dark blue or purple.
Remember when choosing eye shadow shades that colours should be chosen keeping in mind your eye colour, hair colour and skin tone and not the colour of the clothes you wear.
For smokey eye makeup you will need to choose 2 colour coordinated eye shadows. A darker feature colour and a lighter supporting colour.
For smokey eye makeup what feature colour eye shadow best suits blue eyes ?
For Blue eyes, in addition to black or grey, violet, purple or dark blue eye shadow will look great. The dark blue eye shadow in particular, as it will be darker than your eye colour, will accentuate your blue eyes.
For smokey eye makeup what feature colour eye shadow best suits green or hazel eyes ?
For Green or Hazel eyes, in addition to black or grey, try a deep khaki, dark green, brown, purple or plum colour eye shadow.
For smokey eye makeup what feature colour eye shadow best suits brown eyes ?
For Brown eyes, in addition to black or grey, copper, coffee, and brown will give you a great smokey eye effect.

Wide Eyed

Eyes have been called the windows of the soul because of how much they communicate. Eyes give your face energy and individuality. They do not have to be a certain size or shape to be considered pretty - all eyes have their own unique beauty. When makeup is applied to look natural it will bring out the eye's true color and enhance the eye's beauty. When you feel good about your makeup you will be more confident and will have one less thing to worry about.
A subtle application of eyeliner, shadows and mascara work together to create magic and make your eyes look their best.
Eye Shadow
Eye shadow is meant to highlight and define the eyes. Eye shadow is used to create depth to bring out the beauty of the eyes. A dark color used on the lid will make the eye appear smaller, while a lighter color will make it appear larger. That is what eye shadow is about creating illusions. These are the basic techniques for the following eye shapes:
Small eyes: Don't use too much shadow or liner - it will make you eyes look smaller. Apply a light color on eyelid, use a darker color in the crease and use a highlighter under the brow.
Large eyes: Wear darker shadow on the lid and extend it to the crease. Use a flat color under the brow to highlight.
Deep-set eyes: Use light colors on the eyelid and under the brow. Use a medium color in the crease. Emphasize the outer corners with shadow.
Wide-set eyes: Use darker colors on the inner corners of the eye.
Hooded eyes: Apply light colors on the lid. Use darker colors from the center of the eyelid to the outer corners and blend.

Did you know that one of the main ways people judge the age of a person is by looking at their eyes and the area around them? Studies have demonstrated that the appearance of the eye area is one of the main influences on that judgment.
This article will teach you the best makeup tools, tips, and tricks to hide the signs of age around your eyes, including wrinkles, puffy eyes, and dark circles.
1. Use Concealer To Hide Dark Circles
Dark circles are partially the result of your skin thinning and losing elasticity, which usually happens after age 40. These changes let the blood vessels under your skin show through, giving skin a darker color.
You can use a concealer to not only make dark circles appear lighter, but also to make your eyelids appear lifted and your whole face look brighter. Here's how:
Step #1: Choose a concealer with a yellow-based color, two or more shades lighter than the shade of your skin.
Step #2: Apply a small dab of this concealer along your lower lash line, focusing on the inside corner of your eyes and the hollows of your nose, using a concealer brush with a small bristle head. Or, use your ring finger to apply. The touch of the ring finger is naturally light and warm. Gently blend the concealer into your skin.
Step #3: To keep your concealer in place, apply a loose, sheer, yellow-toned powder.
2. Reduce The Appearance Of Dark Circles With Vitamin K
You may prefer to get rid of dark circles by improving the health and condition of the skin, rather than just by hiding the dark circles under makeup.

Makeup for men can be tricky business. If you are a female impersonator, then the art of applying makeup is a cake walk. For the average cross-dressing man, however, looking feminine, let alone looking passable can be a challenge. A good online store can supply you with the makeup and instructional videos to help you achieve natural beauty.
Applying makeup to your eyes is a very important component to the overall male to female transformation. Many men have a fear of eye liner, mascara and eyeshadow They love the idea of creating the perfect eye, but have anxiety about how to do it. Start with your eyebrows. Many men have thicker eyebrows than women and have a hard time concealing and shaping them. Light tweezing or shaving can give you a nice "manscaping", but a very feminine eye requires thinner eyebrows. An effective way to cover your eyebrows is with Eyebrow Modeling Wax. This wax covers your natural male eyebrows and allows you to put concealing makeup over them. Once you have this smooth pallet, you can draw in your own thin eyebrows or use an eyebrow stencil to create dramatic or arched brows.
Once the eyebrows are concealed and created, you can move on to your eyes. You might start with an eyelid primer, which will make the eyelid smooth and ready for makeup. Use an eyeshadow "trio" which will include a base color, a contouring color and brighter color for right under your eyebrows.

Applying eye makeup can be tricky if you don't know what to do. You must first find your eye shape. Here, I will list them out and you can refer to my other articles to know how to apply eye makeup to them. The key idea to remember with makeup application is to simply accentuate what you have, like beautiful eyes, and diminish what you don't like, such as an uneven skin tone.
Determine your eye shape by reading the descriptions below. Once you know your eye shape, you can then learn how to apply eye makeup appropriately.
I think there are two basic areas to your eye. The eyelid - which contours to your eyeball and is the area just above your upper eyelashes. The second area is below your browbone. Knowing this will help you understand the descriptions below.
Here are the various eye shapes:
Basic Eyes are where the eyelid follows the shape of the eye, is easily seen, and creates a crease between the eyelid and the area below the browbone. Not one area is more prominent than another.
Deep Set Eyes are set back deep into the eye sockets, which naturally causes the browbone to extend further out. This creates a deep crease: a dark shadow between the eyelid and the area below the browbone.
Prominent Eyes are where your eyelids and eyes are seriously full and tend to extend from the face. There is very little crease between the two areas of the eye.

Eye Makeup Techniques depend a lot on the skin tone of the wearer and on their eye color. The eye shape is secondary: how you apply can greatly enhance the shape or size of your eyes or even diminish them if incorrectly done. Here is some advice for showing off your best beauty feature.
Brown eyed women with medium complexions can wear just about any eye shadow color. For daytime, espresso, pale beige and medium brown tones look best. Some extreme shades such as the darkest brown, metallic shades and navy blue are more suited for nighttime. Blue eyed women can wear navy blue, dark brown and cream shades, but those with fair complexions should stick to the paler shades for daytime. Green eyes and hazel eyes are well suited with browns, greens and taupe while gray eyes can handle a variety of blues, grays and even black.
The eye shape is a factor in how to apply the eyeliner. Wide eyes can be rimmed all around to make them look even bigger while narrow eyes should not be rimmed completely since it will make them look smaller. Instead put the eyeliner and shadow on the outer half of the eyes and this will make them look bigger and rounder.

Bridal eye makeup is more than just about shadow and liner-it starts from a good foundation, like the whole bridal look itself.
For longer lasting makeup, and a clear canvas, foundation or ideally eye makeup primer should be applied to the whole of the lid-this will give something for the shadows and liner to stick to, and give extra lasting power. Airbrushing a base for the eyes is another great way to get a flawless base-in fact airbrushing the entire foundation for bridal makeup is highly recommended.
Bridal makeup is all about looking good in the flesh, and in photographs. For the photographs, the application of makeup needs to be heavier than normal, but this doesn't have to mean looking overdone. There are three main area that need extra attention-the brow bone, middle lid, and inner corner of the eye-these are the areas that need to catch the light, and if done correctly, will make eyes look defined, multi-dimensional and shining in pictures, and of course in the flesh.
Brow
Choose a highlight color that is reflective, but not glittery-a good pearl white or cream is perfect (white for gray/back shadow, cream for browns/taupes). The highlight doesn't need to go along the whole brow bone, it just needs to go in the area directly below the arch of the brow-this will draw the light to that area, making the brows look more defined, and giving the face dimension.

Dry eyes is a condition that affects up to 30% of the population. The typical dry eye sufferer is female and middle aged.
At around this time of life the near vision starts to deteriorate due to the normal aging process. This is easily remedied with reading glasses, but of course, it is not that easy to apply or remove make-up with a pair of reading glasses on.
As an optometrist, I have seen some eye make-up that looks like it was intended to be make-up for the theatre.
Problems arise if the make-up is applied too thickly or in the wrong place.
While the oils in the skin and the eyes are cousins they are not compatible. If eyeliner is put on the eyelid margin then it can act as a bridge that that allows the skin oils to contaminate the tear oil.
Mascara that finds its way down to the base of the lashes can also form a bridge for contamination.
When the oils from the skin get into the tears, this produces a disruption of normal tear function causing the tears to break down too quickly resulting in the symptoms of dryness.
Problems can also occur with faulty eye make-up removal.
Some don't actually remove their make-up they just let it "wear off" with the help of a rinse from regular tap water.

The power of makeup is a really wonderful tool, it is an instant pick me up that you can use to get really creative with, helping to complete your overall look. Getting the eyes right is not always easy to achieve, especially when first starting out. This article looks at some of the tips and techniques used by professional makeup artists, that will help you to master your eyeliner and eye shadow application and create your own makeup personality:
  1. When it comes to makeup below the eyes let the makeup above your eyes be the guide, you never want to do more below then above. The result you want to achieve is to have an upward effect with your makeup application, not a look that pulls attention downwards. If in doubt apply the makeup above your eyes first, this will help you determine what you are going to do below.

  2. Eye shadows come in different textures such as powders, creams and liquids. Powders are the most popular choice, as they tend to be the easiest to control. Creams and gloss can give a nice highlighted effect especially for the evening, but can tend to smudge easily and end up forming in the creases of the eye, so wear with care.
