I don't know about you, but I am sweating like a pig in this summer heat! Don't get me wrong, summer is my favorite time of year, but the sweating can get a little crazy in the hot months for me. Because of that, I tend to wear less makeup. I really do not need my expensive makeup running down my face in the middle of the day! Not cool. I also just feel physically cooler not having makeup caked on all day. Here's my usual makeup routine in the summer months:
First, I create a tinted moisturizer by combining my Sabon face lotion with foundation. I usually use a MAC foundation, but I have been using Make Up For Ever HD foundation in Cognac because it is a bit darker than my MAC and I have tanned quite a bit already. I think I will continue using Make Up For Ever in all seasons, though, because it blends better than the MAC in my opinion. To create the tinted moisturizer, start with the same amount of face moisturizer you would normally use. Put the moisturizer on the back of your hand. Now, put only a dot of foundation into the moisturizer. Combine both to create a tinted moisturizer. If you feel you need more foundation, go ahead and put more in a little bit at a time. Remember, the point of this is to have less foundation on in the end. Put the tinted moisturizer on like you would any moisturizer and blend well.
Then, I get my lashes with Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash Mascara. My lashes are very stubby, so I like the small brush to get all the little areas. I use the "wiggle" technique to separate my lashes.
Colored lipsticks are really in right now. I, especially, love it when I do not want to put on a ton of makeup. The pop from the lipstick accentuates your lips, so you don't need much eye makeup. Most of the time, I will fill in my lips with a pinkish color, like Maybelline ColorSensational in Fuschia Fever. I encourage everyone to go to your makeup store and play around with all different colors. You will never know how the colors will look on your lips until you try it. So, just play and have fun! I have also had luck combining different lipsticks to create shades of my own!
